The Allied Arsenal
Terms of service
Effective 1 August 2026 · These terms cover thealliedarsenal.com and everything sold on it
Allied Arsenal publishes historical reference books as PDFs and sells them directly from this site. These terms set out what you are buying, how it reaches you, and what you may do with it.
1 · Who you are dealing with
The books are written, compiled and published by Allied Arsenal, an independent publisher operating at thealliedarsenal.com. Enquiries of every kind go to [email protected] and are answered by a person.
Payments are not taken by Allied Arsenal. Paddle.com Market Ltd acts as the merchant of record and is the seller of record for the transaction. Paddle's own buyer terms govern the payment itself and apply alongside these terms.
2 · What is sold
The Allied Arsenal · Reference Edition — $29. A digital book supplied as three PDF editions of the same work, together with the plate archive:
- Reference edition — 182 pages, 8.5 × 11 inches, plates at 200 dpi
- Reading edition — 213 pages, 6 × 9 inches, plates at 100 dpi
- Print edition — 182 pages, 8.625 × 11.25 inches with 0.125 inch bleed, plates at 300 dpi
- The plate archive — every plate in the book at full resolution, with its source manual and leaf
Numbered First Edition — $39. The same three editions and the same archive, with the buyer's name and a copy number typeset onto the edition page at the back of the book and the whole book re-rendered from source. Copy numbers are issued in the order that orders are received.
Twenty Rifles That Fought The War is a separate, complete book given away free in exchange for an email address. It is not part of either paid product and is not included with them.
Prices are shown in US dollars. Sales tax, VAT or GST is calculated and added by Paddle where your country requires it, and is shown before you pay.
3 · Delivery
The $29 edition is delivered immediately. A download is available as soon as checkout completes, and the same files are emailed to the address used at checkout so there is a link to return to.
The $39 numbered edition is rendered per order and delivered within 24 hours, because the book is typeset again with the buyer's name and copy number in it. If a name was not given at checkout, we email to ask for one, and the 24 hours runs from the reply.
If nothing has arrived within an hour of a standard purchase, or 24 hours of a numbered one, check your spam folder and then write to [email protected]. Delivery problems are fixed, not argued about.
4 · What you may do with the books
Buying the book gives you a permanent, non-exclusive licence to use it personally. Specifically, you may:
- Read it on as many of your own devices as you like
- Print it, in whole or in part, for your own use — the print edition exists for exactly this
- Have a copy bound for yourself by a print shop
- Quote from it, with attribution, as you would any other published reference
You may not republish it, resell it, upload it to a file-sharing site or library, distribute copies to people who have not bought it, or use its text to train a machine-learning model. The book took a long time to compile and is sold at the price of a paperback on the understanding that it is not passed around.
There is no DRM, no licence key and no phone-home check. This clause is a request backed by copyright, not a technical restriction, and it is written that way deliberately.
5 · Copyright, and what is not covered by it
The text, layout, tables, commentary and typesetting of both books are © 2026 Allied Arsenal.
The plates and photographs are not. They are works of the United States Government and other national governments and are in the public domain. Each is credited individually in the book to its source manual, leaf and date. Nothing in these terms creates or claims any right over public-domain material, and you do not need our permission to use those source documents yourself — they are named precisely so that you can.
6 · Updates and corrections
Revisions are free, permanently, to everyone who owns the book, including the first buyer. When one is issued, owners are emailed a link.
Corrections are published on the book's page rather than made quietly. That page is the only address printed inside the books and it is maintained for as long as the books are in circulation.
We do not undertake to publish revisions on any schedule, and no purchase is a subscription to future work.
7 · Refunds
14 days, money back. If it is not what you expected, you get your money back. The full policy — including how it sits alongside statutory withdrawal rights in the UK and EU and alongside Paddle's own buyer terms — is on the refunds page and forms part of these terms.
8 · Accuracy, and the limits of it
Every figure in the Reference Edition is read off a photograph of a printed source and attributed to the document, the leaf and the date it came from. Where a figure could not be established, the book says so and stops rather than filling the gap from elsewhere.
That is a method, not a guarantee of perfection. Sources contradict each other, compilers made errors, and so do we. The books are sold as historical reference, not as engineering, legal, financial or safety advice, and no figure in them should be relied on for any of those purposes.
If you hold a document that disagrees with something printed, please write. Corrections are published with the correction named.
9 · The email list
Buyers are added to a list used to send the book, the download links, and notice of revisions. Anyone who requests the free book is added to a list used to send that book and occasional research notes.
Every email carries a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not affect your access to anything you have bought. What is stored and who processes it is set out in the privacy policy.
10 · Availability
This is a small independent publisher, not a service with an uptime commitment. The site and the download links are maintained with care but are provided as they are. If a link breaks, write and it will be replaced.
11 · Liability
To the extent the law allows, Allied Arsenal's total liability arising out of or in connection with a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights.
12 · Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the business does. The version in force is the one on this page, and it carries the date it took effect at the top. Changes are not applied retroactively to purchases already made: the terms that applied on the day you bought are the terms that govern your purchase.
13 · Governing law
The payment transaction itself is between you and Paddle.com Market Ltd and is governed by Paddle's buyer terms, which include their own dispute process at paddle.net.
Anything else arising between you and Allied Arsenal is governed by the law of Pakistan, without affecting any protection you are entitled to under the mandatory consumer law of your own country of residence.
